Attending several of Ram Dass experiences, (I can’t call them lectures) through the ‘70s & ‘80s.
These cultural heroes made themselves available to the public, Edith Cooper a psychologist friend of mine appealed to Richard Alpert (Ram Dass), through his Hanuman foundation Prison~Ashram Project, to come out and give a talk to the inmates of Terminal Island correctional Facility. Ram Dass came and did his best to help these people use their incarceration to grow their souls. Since I had been teaching there myself (classes in Creative Mysticism, & Meditation), I was able to attend and leave when he did. Ironically Tim Leary spent much to much time there and wasn’t able to leave, having been entrapped by Federal powers. When Prof. Leary got out of prison he warned us that the “Oil Companies are Ripping off the Universe”. It’s obvious now how right he was.
For a very nominal fee I was able to attend an Agni Yoga session with Ralph Metzner and others in a Hollywood duplex not far from Griffith observatory. I still use many of visualizations I learned in that session today, over 30 years later. They enriched our lives if we let them. Treasures each one of them.
